98 Years of Holsteins at Pine Shelter in Minnesota

He stood patiently waiting for the train as it entered the station in Pine Island. His son Lloyd was returning home from University… bringing with him on the train a cow he had purchased from the University herd! The year was 1919 and this was the first registered Holstein owned by the Alberts family. Lloyd bought more cows from the University, and eventually 4 of them had heifer calves. Today the 550 cows at Pine Shelter can all be traced back 98 years to those 4 heifer calves.
