United Kingdom

Pitch black, powerful from head to tail with a very solid udder. Based on these qualities, Enchanted Abbiene owned by the Coates/Greenhalgh families became the champion of the Great Yorkshire Show. As is so often the case in Great Britain, the visible qualities are supported by a deep pedigree: Beemer-EX93Gold Chip-EX91Titanic-EX95Durham-Shoremar Alicia EX-97 (photo). Becoming Reserve Grand of the high quality “open air” competition was Whinchat Angela 2 (Abbott-Arudolf) owned by Burkle.

In the US, the show season is in full swing. In New England, the Holstein show was won by the youthful Senior Champion, Pineland-Haven Hugs (Devour-Atlantic). Morrill Ava 3949-Red (<Avalanche) won the Red Holstein competition. In Illinois, Belmoral Nediva, a three-year-old Apple-Crisp daughter owned by Butler, added the Holstein show to her resume.

A remarkable sale, organized from Quebec. Under the name “Vente 100% Lait chez Crackholm”, well-uddered “commercial” milking two-year-olds were sold, originating from elite herds in New York. Dozens of lots received bids of C$4000 or higher. Kings-Ransom Luxury (Challenger-Hotline) even reached C$7000.

Exciting competitions in the German Tarmstedt (Lower Saxony). The open two-year-old show was won by Madison (<Gywer) owned by Betrieb Wiese. Reserve Grand became Scarlet (<Delta-Lambda) owned by Betrieb Castens. Winner of the Tarmstedter Typ-Cup (Young Breeders) became Odette (<Denver) owned by Kumlehn/Spangenberg.

During the online Koepon Summer Sale (Netherlands), Koepon Romania 3-P was the top seller. The young Foreman, bred out of a Simon-P daughter, sold for €8000. Followed closely by Koepon Range 128-P-RC (€7700), a Star-AltaAltuve granddaughter of Lakeside Ups Red Range.

Just like previous editions, Part III of the Murribrook dispersal was a success. The top price, just like in April, reached AU$21,000 and this time was bid for Murribrook Cassie. Her sire Walnutlawn Sidekick (photo) had more popular daughters in the catalogue. Murribrook Sidekick Verbena sold for AU$20,000, as did Mirribrook KingdocReba.
