Holstein of the Week

For the first time ever, an Austrian Holstein received 97 points for udder. KH Calvo Edelweiss (photo) owned by the Kaserer family recently classified EX-93, with 97 points for her udder. During the national show, KH Edelweiss captured the Reserve Senior Champion and Udder Champion titles. The daughter of Calvo (Commander-Epic) traces via a Defender dam and an Alexander grandam back to the legendary foundation cow Rainyridge Tony Beauty.

In the US, Captain maintains a solid lead. The progeny proven Charl son scores 3287 TPI, more than 100 points above the nr.2 GamedayPursuit son Lambeau debuted in third place and with 2.45 PTAT is the highest conformation transmitter in the top-10. The leader on the American DNA list is OCD Darth Vader, a Thorson-Captain-Tahiti with 3342 gTPI, followed by AltaMakeover, Ellison, Hardin and Karl.

On the German progeny proven list, the Superhero son Super Uno shares the leading position with newcomer Pellegrino, a Topnotch-Router from the offspring of Miss America. Other newcomers in the top-5: Predar (Pursuit-Superhero from the offspring of Gold-N-Oaks Marbella) and Suez (Subzero-Outlast out of Aurora Octoberfest Borealis). On the DNA list, Rover son Real Syn remains the king and master (166 gRZG).

Gladius son Ecbert took over the lead on the Italian DNA ranking from Abacuc. Appearing in second place is newcomer Essence (<Alonzo). For the progeny proven sires, Yoox remains in charge. The Rio son out of a Duke dam scores 4545 PFT. Notable is the nr.6 position of Barone Rosso, a red Santorius son from the offspring of Gen-I-Beq Goldwyn Secret.

Aurora Letchworth, with three sons, is the most prominent sire of sons on the Canadian DNA list, which is led by Powerstar son HI-Power – the only sire with a total index above 4000 gLPI. Letchworth son Oli and Esquire son Ethancomplete the top-3. For the progeny proven sires, Captain, Conway and Johnboy lead the ranking.
