Melarry Fuel

Interesting trends are documented by a recent analysis in Canada. The sires with the most registered calves in the 4th quarter of 2021 were Fuel (pictured), Speedup-P, King DocAteamDelta-Lambda and Sidekick. While 60% of all registered calves had a daughter-proven bull for sire, it is interesting to look at the 40% of calves with a genomic sire. Especially this group documents the increasing trend towards sires from the polled and A2A2 segment. 43% of all offspring with a genomic sire were descended from a polled bull. 62% had an A2A2 bull for sire. The polled bulls with the most registrations were Speedup-PA2P2-PPAllday-PMirand-PPAdagio-P and Illustrator-P.

Hilrose Advent Anna-Red provided sale toppers even twice. At the Heart of the Wheel sale, the top price went to her Altitude daughter Hilrose Ash-Red ($10,200). And at the Triple-T Sale, Schluter Amber (Altitude-Diamondback-Anna) garnered a bid of $23,500. Only Triple-T Pretender ($31,000), a Doorman out of Triple-T Durham Poppi, was more expensive.

Flóra, a third-calver Lambda-Adidas out of Agronómia Deszk, is Hungary’s new National Champion. A novelty was provided by 21-month-old Reserve Champion Heidi. That daughter of Siemers-RUW Rafting is the first non-calved heifer to claim Reserve at a Hungarian National Show.

Bred from the family of Coyne-Farms Yelena, T- Spruce Kashton 18217 (3184 gTPI) is highest May debutant and the new Nr.5 on the US female list. A total of 19 newcomers feature a gTPI above 3090. With 16 daughters among the top-50, Gameday continues to dominate the scene, ahead of Conway (6).

Out of Jacobs Gold Liann, TMF Factor Liann won the Tokachi B&W show, the largest spring show in Japan. Behind that four-year-old Control daughter, Sweet Sid Endeavour claimed Reserve. Judge Masahiko Iwata awarded third place to the Intermediate Champion, Prairie Crush Mary.

In brief:

  • Diamondback out of Milksource Destry Allspice with $19,000 at Carspdale Sale (US)
  • National Champion All-Star Agent Elegance crowned Miss BEA 2022 (CH)
  • Omarie (AltaToohot-Goldday) of Los Geróminos wins in Talavera (ES)
  • Pess-Farm Camelia (Crushtime-Lineman) new Champion of Saluzzo (IT)

Focus: Bertaiola Gotico

With an increase of 91 points, Gotico moved up to the top-5 in Italy in April. This exceptional talent with an outcross sire stack (Geyser-Casper-Solaris-Deman) tracing back to famous Royal-Idevra Eva (Southwind Kaye family) is a true all-rounder. He transmits lots of milk, good milking speed, high fertility, great udder health, long productive life and easy calvings. Though above all, that Intermizoo sire is a gifted udder bull leaving extremely strong udder attachments in combination with good teat placement and teat length.
