Happy

All Holsteins have unique colour markings… none more so than “Happy”, who was born at Bellbrook Holsteins in the West Gippsland of Victoria, Australia. Owners Megan & Barry Coster say that Happy (a bull calf) is destined to become the farm mascot and chief lawn-mower. 

US

Topping the Budjon Futures Sale at $35,000 was Oakfield Tatoo Fancylike, selling to Arjun Singh, Lawwal Holsteins, New Zealand, with Tim & Sharyn Abbott as partners. She is out of the Madison Champion Oakfield Solom Footloose. Milksource Storm Siren VG-88, a Thunder Storm maternal sister to Erbacres Snapple Shakira EX-97 (2021 Madison Champion) sold for $21,000 to Regan Demmer. 80 head averaged $7,104.  

Canada

Westcoast Holsteins recorded a double victory at the BC Spring Show taking the Grand Champion title with Wedgwood Unix Collette and Reserve Grand with Craigcrest Rubies Smarty Pants (<Goldwyn). Wesctcoast also had the Grand Champion Red-Holstein with Kozak Awesome Bianca-Red. 

Switzerland

At the Arc Jurassien Expo, judge Bruno Charriere selected Ptit-Coeur Chief Miki, owned by Roger Frossard, as Grand Champion. The same owner showed the Grand Champion Red-Holstein and Supreme Champion of the show with Ptit-Coeur Power Barbajolie. 

Canada 

The Beslea Sale averaged $4,155 on 29 animals sold. Top priced Holstein at $5,000 was Kozak Cheerful Bacardi-Red-P, maternal sister to the Grand Champion Red-Holstein from the BC Spring Show.

  • Hugh Kennedy receives the John Dennison Lifetime Achievement Award (UK).
  • Lawwal Holsteins win the Wiakato Ballance Farm Environmental Award (NZ).
  • Ballylongane Laidy 44 (€3,340) tops Kerry Sale (Ireland).

All-Britain

Whinchat Stanleycup Farrah has been named as the All-Britain Mature Cow. Styche Armour Hilgonda (5-year-old), Riverdane Doorman Elke (4-year-old) and Evening Sidekick Jennifer (Senior-3-year-old) were also among the winners. In the young cow classes Davlea Sidekick Wattle (Junior-3-year-old), Davlea Crushabull Raven (Senior-2), Eedy Crushabull Acclaim (Intermediate 2-year-old) and Knowlesmere Jones Unix Victoire (Junior-2-year-old) were the winners.
