From the 60s through to the early 2,000s, cow production increased enormously though the fertility of the Holstein cow declined alarmingly. 20 years ago, selection for fertility traits was established, and with the assistance of genomics, has started to reverse that downward trend in fertility. Here we look at the fertility traits that are evaluated in some of the main Holstein countries.
