EuroGenomics starts data exchange
Following the announcement of the formation of EuroGenomics from the data centers of Scandinavia, Germany, France and the Netherlands, the actual consolidation of the data is now taking place to form one of the world’s largest data sets for genomic selection. With a total of 16,000 proven bulls included in that data set, the reliability of genomic proofs will increase by around 10%.

Current proofs in New Zealand
After the March proof round, the leading trio in New Zealand continues to be made of Edition, Radical, and Puzzle. The 2 highest second-crop sires, Applause and Magic, can’t be budged from the top-10. Among those moving up are Ex Presso, HI-Gloss, and the high productive-life bull CL Jasper.

HI’s March issue arrives
Early this week the digital issue of HI’s red-hot March issue was published, and by now the print issue will be arriving in the mailboxes of thousands of readers. Look forward to an issue with tremendous variability of topics! Visit the Flammang herd in Luxemburg and Tag-Lane Dairy in the US. In addition HI scrutinizes numerous top bulls such as Frosty, Bolton, Super, and Jerudo-Red, and we take a closer look at the quality of international brood cows including Frosty, Firestone, and Lava-Red. The current HI issue starts a new series to give you a better understanding of the varied total indexes around the world. We start that series with New Zealand’s BW. And if you want to study the list with the most heavily used sires of sons, or if you want to get to know the opinion of smaller AIs when it comes to genomic selection, or if you want to read additional fascinating articles but have not yet subscribed to HI, then use this opportunity and take a subscription at: www.holsteininternational.com

Bull of the week: Henkeseen Emphasis
He was not among the highest newcomers in January, however, even with his unspectacular TPI (1867) he attracts the attention of many breeders. Sired by Titanic and out of the full sister to Duplex, he features a recognized pedigree, above-average proofs for productive life (+3.6), udder health (2.63), and calving ease (7%), as well as reasonable production figures. And Emphasis really stands out when it comes to conformation. In the US he is the number 1 bull for udders (3.53), the number 8 for feet & legs (3.00), and the number 18 for overall conformation. Emphasis: the latest example of the power of the Hillary family.
