History
Jan Bierma and Han Hopman founded Holstein International in 1994. There was lots of demand for an international magazine for the dairy breeding industry featuring relevant information and professional photos, and the expertise and ambitions of the two founders made for a perfect match.Since 1994 Holstein International has expanded from 4 employees, 3 languages, and about 1,000 subscribers to 18 employees, 7 freelance workers, 6 languages, and more than 12,500 subscribers. The entire production process (except for printing and distribution) is carried out from the head office at Stiens, in the Dutch province of Friesland.
Mission
Holstein International BV publishes international, high-quality, and independent information, and serves as a know-how center for the international dairy farming and breeding industry. This information is distributed in printed form, via magazines and also digitally, via the website on the Internet. Holstein International BV currently targets the top 10% of international breeders and other interested parties. Holstein International BV distinguishes itself via the quality of the information, optimum management and control of every aspect of the production process, including the translation of the information into six different languages (Dutch, German, English, French, Italian, and Spanish).
Holstein International BV firstly is a publisher. As such it wants to be a reliable partner for its readers and other interested parties demanding independence, versatility, and expertise. Holstein International BV has its own team of editors, translators and photographers, plus an enthousiastic group of people that are active in subscription procurement and management, advertising sales, public relations, and design.
